Blackbird at the Nielson Tower, Makati: A Lavish Dining Experience in a Historic Setting

Blackbird
Nielson Tower, Ayala Triangle, Makati City
The Nielson Tower was the country's first commercial airport which was built by Laurie Reuben Nielson in 1937 and was the biggest and best-equipped airport in Asia then. During World War II, it was used as the US Far East Air Force headquarters and the Japanese air headquarters. After the war, it became the official port of entry for air passengers into the Philippines.

The Nielson Tower, the only pre-World War II structure in Makati, is now home to Blackbird, a dining and leisure destination.

Located in the heart of Makati's Ayala Triangle, Blackbird offers a lavishly redeveloped space that maintains the integrity of the original Art Deco design. With an ambiance and approach to service that focuses on the warmth of Filipino hospitality, Blackbird is a must-visit for any foodie looking for a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

Blackbird's menu

We had dinner at The Grill Room, Blackbird's stunning main oval dining room. We were told that it is filled with light during the day, thanks to the high ceilings and well-spaced tables. In the evening, the Art Deco features of the room are highlighted with soft mood lighting, creating a sense of elegance and glamour.

Mushroom Cappuccino Soup, Tartufata Panini

Spiced Pumpkin Soup

The Blackbird Seafood Platter

grilled tiger prawns, octopus, mackerel skewers, salt and pepper soft shell crab with nuoc cham

Burnt Butter

burnt butter and vanilla seed ice creams, chocolate brownie, candied popcorn, salted caramel

Blackbird offered an unforgettable 5-star dining experience in an atmospheric space. The ambiance was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The team took great care of us, ensuring that we had a memorable evening.
